PRODUCT INFO
This fantasy crystal ball pendant is handcrafted from a combination of a crystal sphere and sterling silver with techniques of sawing, granulating, sanding, polishing, soldering and darkening. Since it is made from silver, it’s resistant to all environmental factors and it doesn’t cause any allergies or skin irritation.
The crystal sphere is a clear natural rock crystal quartz gemstone. The setting is tight enough to hold it securely without it rattling, yet loose enough to allow you to spin the sphere inside.
It’s sold with 1mm thick black cotton cord (cca 2m long looped three times around).
Material is silver with quartz gemstone
Pendant height is 40 mm

–I wanted to make something like this for years. It first started, when a customer asked if I’d be able to do something like this. At the time, with all honesty, I wasn’t. Recently, I was shopping for stones and gemstones to use in my new works, and I came upon spheres. Oh my….it all came back to me and I ordered it immediately. Also, when my girlfriend heard of this, she confessed she always wanted to have a pendant like that.
–It was very difficult to put everything together. For convenience, and better quality, I decided to solder everything in just two phases – first to create the main body in all it’s glory, and the second to join the ends into a sort of ring. The first phase took a long time, mostly because when I tried to arrange everything, the little granules of silver just kept rolling off. Even when I just touched the body and made it move just a little, everything fell off only for me to start again. Frustrating…but highly satisfying, once I finally arranged it just right.
–Originally, the fantasy crystal ball pendant was made without the part connecting it to the cord. However, it seemed too….weird, when it was hanging on the cord directly without something more. I must admit, making that little thingy took me about as long as the main part of the pendant – mostly because I managed to make it look good only on my third attempt.
